So for whatever reason they take the left side of the lake and I take the right, which I had NEVER done before today. I catch a few more bass and yell out to them from the other side of the lake to come get in on the bite I was on. As i’m yelling out to them while I continue retrieving my 3 inch swim bait at a steady pace, my rod tip gets yanked down and my drag screamed! I hadn’t seen the fish but i knew it felt too heavy to be a bass.

I was a pharmaceutical representative covering the New Hampshire and Maine territory. Most afternoons on my way home I would stop at some out of the way spot and throw a few casts in a stream or pond the probably didn’t see a fisherman all season. On one occasion I drove less then a mile down an old trail off Route 25 very close to the Maine NH border to try my luck in the Ossipee River. There was not a soul around no vehicles nobody. I worked my way along the banks a few yards to some large boulders and started to fish. I was fishing the first beach at Sandy Hook in Jersey one late September.

Why Fish Stories?

Then I wandered around into different spots. Finally I dropped my line right into a school of perch. Between us we caught over thirty perch in less than a half hour. In the excitement the lunch blew into the river, as we had just about started to eat when I found the school of fish. The sea gulls happened to be very plentiful at this point.
