We were laughing all afternoon about the pair of loons that seemed to be following us around the pond. As evening approached, the fishing took a turn for the better. My buddy made a nice cast to a rising fish and hooked him up.

My grandmother had a bit of a hard time raising me and dealing with my personality, which was always one of spontaneity and inquisitiveness – usually my downfall! How about new to trout fishing and not really sure what they look like. Knew what 2 inch chubs looked like, but not one that was about 7 inches. Well I catch this big chub thinking it is a trout and go chasing after Dad who is about two hundred yards downstream. Mean while I’m passing other fishermen carrying this fish telling them I caught a trout. I catch up to my Dad and he tells me it is a chub. Boy I’ll tell you did I ever feel silly.

Bass fishing in my float tube this past June I had a snapping turtle damn near climb in my lap, I made a noise I’m not to proud of and went back to fishing. It wasn’t until the third time it happened that day that I decided to call it quits… I was checking when I was laughing. My family maintains part of a lake in the adirondacks. The lake is pretty big, it would take a full day to cross it length wise in a kayak. Anyhow, the lake is split into two portions, a tiny camping portion and the huge living portion.

After a bit of jockeying the owner felt he had the position just perfect.. And wham… up the cement ramp came the boat… with no trailer there to get it!!! Come to think of it I think the boat owner did too…….. I was fishing for channel cats one evening on the Ottawa looking for above average sized specimines when I noticed some moevement on the line…. I new it was a small cat was playing with my large bait but I though I would wait it out and see if a larger one took interest while the little guy nibbled….

One held the reel and reeled in constantly while the other holding the rod tip and swinging the spinner. As I am often the only girl in the group, I was feministly sure I would win this competition. Sadly I wasn´t even in second place and realized my fishing buddies had some seriously flexible hips! After the competition, we looked at each other, realized it was time to sleep and that we were a bunch of 30+ year olds doing limbo and should be fresh and up and about in 3 hours.
