What’s a good fishing story?
He woke up with a start, thinking he got a big fish. He quickly reeled the line up but to his greatest disappointment, it was just an old fisherman’s boot. One spring, Zeke planted blueberry bushes in his meadow. A week later, he went to check their progress and found that some beavers had built a dam that put a pond over the new planting. He let out a whoop that turned three flocks of migrating birds back south again. The language wasn’t blue; it was positively purple.
The skilled competitor trolls in, but makes sure not to break the distance rule for the tournament. I respected that, but I didn’t know what he was looking for at that time. I caught a trout so big, the picture of it was 3 pounds. Though he tried not ask why the other man threw the catch back into the water, his curiosity got the better of him.
I fish with a group of retired “oldschool” guys and have learned a lot from them. Patrick, our middle boy is extremely low vision to legally blind – so when he cast off, he was always looking to see where his line had gone. I hated to painfully inform him that it was behind him in the tree or the big bush. Bob spent quite a bit of time climbing up and unhooking lines. He never said another word about the fish – he thanked me for the ‘entertainment’ though a few days later and was happy that I had managed to untangle the line.
He cast out again and was delighted to catch an even larger trout. In no time, he caught the biggest trout he’d ever caught. But sometimes we can all get so competitive trying to catch the most fish, that we forget about the “fun factor”. Bedtimeshortstories.comCopyright 2015.
