Nothing like a good old fashion piece of poetry to brighten your day. This is a hilarious depiction of how I often feel while fishing. And I, for one, absolutely decline to believe in this preposterous story of his about a bull-dog. Nothing but an extreme love of truth could have hindered me from concealing this part of my story. Many of us are just like the second fisherman.
I looked over at him and he was already going “number two” in my rear livewell. We had brown trout and smallies that day. I wouldn’t trade that memory for anything. Along with fishing comes so many memories and funny fishing stories, and most often those are the memories of people on the bank, in the lodge and so on. Fishing brings out the kid in us, just playing. Sometimes it leads to more playful events, not related to fishing at all.

I casually flip my go-to finesse setup as I watch my partner dig in the rod box for his shaky head rig. As 2017 came to a close, we asked our Facebook followers to share their favorite fishing stories of the year. With nearly 600 entries, we had our work cut out for us! The following stories were our favorites; we feel as if they perfectly encompass what fishing is all about. Some are action packed, some are funny and others will pull at your heartstrings. I was fishing Lake Marburg (Codorus S.P.) early one morning with a popper. I had just made a long cast when I noticed a seagull flying towards me. I had a feeling that something was going to happen so I started to real the lure in. Sure enough that gull dived right for my lure. He then started to fly away with it. The funny part was when I yanked him out of the air and dragged him across the water.

As time went on, the experienced fisherman saw the other man throw countless fishes back into the river. The inexperienced fisherman’s ice chest was almost empty, with only a few tiny fish. Whereas, the experienced fisherman’s ice chest was filled to the brim with fat big fishes. “He would have the same number of fishes if he had not thrown them back into the river,” the man thought.
